About Me

Don't think you know me until you really do

Here at Corey B for Mental Health Awareness, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in 2000, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Health Organization upon: support, empowerment, and progress. Learn more about our mission, our vision, and how we go about making the changes we want to see.

What am I

About my ethnicity…

I am Creole, from New Orleans, LA. – I am about half black and half white. I do not like colors that much, so I will just say that I am a super mutt in dog terms!! Here a link to Ancestry with my breakdown… https://www.ancestry.com/dna/origins/share/6c53330e-ec4d-4958-b96d-a440eaed6206
First 5 minutes of documentary "Too White   to be Black, Too Black to be White: The New Orleans Creole" by Maurice Martinez, PhD. He was the son of “Mrs. Martinez” who ran the famous Martinez kindergarten I went to. I was also KING. That is another story!!

I also have a book written by a family friend called Black Life in Olde New Orleans by Keith Weldon Medley. This is also a very good read for those of us with a color identity issue!!
